What are computer networks and their types

Computer networking:-
Computer networking means connecting two or more devices/computers with each other so that they can share data or information with each other. It is only through computer networking that we can do data transfer, internet access, file sharing, and other communication work. Through a computer network, we can send emails; along with this, we can also do web browsing and play online games. There are many types of networking.

Types of networking :-
1. LAN (Local Area Network): It is used in small parts, like home, school, or college; LAN (Local Area Network) is used in small offices.

Its data transfer speed is very fast.

2. WAN (Wide Area Network): This network is used in larger areas than LAN, such as it is used in cities, countries, or continents.

Many LAN and MAN networks are also connected in it.

3. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network): This network is used to cover a city or a metropolitan area.
Many LANs are connected in it.

Advantages of networking :-
1. Data sharing: With the use of networking, we can easily send or receive data or files.
Networking is very important for businesses.

2. Use of resources: With the use of networking, we can exchange data or make connections with printers, scanners, and other devices.
It reduces costs.

3. Communication: With the use of networking, we can email and instant message anyone, as well as talk on video calls.
This saves time and cost.

4. Data security: Advanced security protocols are used to protect data with the use of networking.

Networking equipment: -
1. Router: This equipment works to send data packets to different networks. It works to connect different networks.

2. Switch: This device works to connect devices to a local network and sends data packets to the correct destination.

3. Modem: This device works to connect the computer with the Internet Service Provider (ISP).

It converts the data into uncoded signals so that it can be sent through the Internet.

Networking Protocol :-

1. TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol): This is an important protocol for sending and receiving data on the Internet and other networks.

This protocol ensures whether the data has reached the correct destination in the correct manner or not.

2. HTTP/HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol/Secure): These are protocols that allow you to access and navigate websites. Basically, they make your internet browsing possible.

HTTPS provides a secure connection.

3. FTP (File Transfer Protocol): This protocol is used to send data between two or more computers or devices.

It is used to transfer very large files.

Role of Internet:-

  • The Internet helps us to access information from around the world.
  • With the use of the Internet, we can use email, social media, and other communication tools.
  • The Internet is a network spread across the world, which connects millions of private, public and business networks.

Networking of the future: -

  • Networking can become even more advanced and secure in the future.
  • In the future, 6g and 7g technology can make the internet speed very fast and can also increase the data transfer speed.
  • In the future, the networking system will become even smarter through artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Computer networking has made our lives easier. With its use, we can exchange information quickly and can use more resources. The future of networking is bright and full of possibility.
